This year, Ben and I spent our first Christmas away from family. Like Thanksgiving this year, it was bittersweet. Of course we missed our loved ones and the traditions that go along with being home for the holidays. But we also felt incredibly blessed to be able to experience a Christmas just the two of us (and Gunner!). It was so special!
On Christmas Eve we ordered Chinese takeout (a tradition from Ben’s family), and each opened a present. We even got some hail on Christmas Eve, which made this California Christmas a bit more wintery feeling! On Christmas morning, we ate homemade cinnamon rolls (a tradition from my family!), and opened stockings and the rest of our gifts. We spent most of Christmas in our PJs, lounging around, watching movies, and enjoying our time together. In the afternoon, we took Gunner for a walk at the reservoir near where we live. It was a beautiful, sunny, but COLD day!
The 2015 holiday season was different, that’s for sure. But it was beautiful, cozy, and so so special. I love making new memories and traditions with Ben! As 2015 comes to an end, I am feeling SO incredibly blessed and loved, and SO excited for what the new year has in store!
