Welcome to my first Mommy Monday blog post! I’m going to try to do these every Monday. Technically, my weeks turn over on Fridays, so, for example, today I am not exactly 15 weeks along. I am actually 15 weeks 3 days along, because I hit 15 weeks last Friday.
So! I am officially well into the 2nd trimester, woohoo! The first trimester was pretty rough for me. I had really REALLY bad fatigue…I seriously felt like I was drugged. It was so hard to get out of bed every day and I just wanted to sleep all the time. I feel like I was NOT expecting such bad fatigue. Everyone warns you about the morning sickness, but you don’t really hear about how dang EXHAUSTED you will be!
Speaking of morning sickness, I also had pretty bad morning sickness (which does not only happen in the mornings, by the way!) and I felt nauseated ALL day and night. I threw up most mornings, which was not fun. I also had really REALLY intense cravings. They usually hit me when I was in bed, about ready to go to sleep. Most of these cravings, I never indulged, but I craved everything from cheese burgers to Cap'n Crunch to crab macaroni and cheese… Mostly carbs because that just sounded so good with my nausea and everything. Vegetables and water, on the other hand, made me gag and feel sick just to think about. I pretty much relied on ginger ale, La Croix sparkling water, grapefruit juice, and lemon water for my hydration.
I basically have to be constantly eating and snacking. Especially during the first trimester, if my stomach was allowed to get empty, I would throw up or feel REALLY really sick and weak. Now, I am just hungry all of the time, but I don’t get sick, which is nice. I’ve been pretty good about eating as healthily as possible. As I said, during the first trimester, I basically just ate whatever I could keep down, and a lot of times that was carbs and salty, savory foods. But overall, I’ve kept my food choices pretty healthy! Especially now as I am able to stomach vegetables!
Just the past week or so, my belly has really popped, which is SO fun because I am so so so excited to have a big baby bump! I’m already having a fun time dressing the bump. I can’t button my jeans comfortably any more so chances are, if you see me out, my pants are unbuttoned. haha Thank goodness for Bellabands!
I am so so so excited that my energy is BACK and I've been able to slowly start easing back into my workout routine! I just didn't have the energy to work out very much during the first trimester, which was hard.
I’m going to fill out this little survey every week that I’ve seen some of my fellow expecting bloggers do, so here we go:
How far along: 15 weeks 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: Up about 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? None yet! Only a Bellaband, which is amazing!
Stretch marks? None yet!! Fingers crossed! I've been slathering on the Bio Oil and Palmer's Cocoa Butter every day!!
Sleep: Sleeping well, except for having to get up about 50 million times throughout the night to pee!
Best moment this week: My belly really popping!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Movement: A bit! I felt a little fluttering on the plane ride back from Paris, and I’ve felt the fluttering a few more times since then! Can’t wait for some real kicks!
Food cravings: FRENCH FRIES, toasted sub sandwiches with avocado, fruit.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.
Have you started to show yet: Yes, YAY!
Gender prediction: During the first month or so I felt SO strongly that it was a boy. But over the past couple of weeks that feeling has gone away and now I have no clue!
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In, but I feel like it is definitely not as far in as it was!
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: So happy! I have just constantly been in the best mood!
Symptoms: Acne! Ugh. Other than that, none really!
