Happy Fall, Ya'll!

I wanted to get this post up now so that you guys can take advantage of the Labor Day sales that are going on! A lot of the items below are on sale.

I'm sharing some Fall Decor items below to give you a little inspiration. Anyone already decorating for Fall?? I am SO ready! I have most of my decorations up, but I still have a few things I need to snag in order to put the finishing touches on everything.

My theme this year is PUMPKINS - mint, white, grey are my main colors, with the occasionally pop of orange. I'm accenting with black and white plaid. I really love how everything is looking! I'm doing a more sophisticated look this year, versus the bright orange and red and loud colors and patterns that I normally do. It's fun to do something different this year!

Ok, here are some Fall Decor pieces that I'm loving and that I'm using for inspo. myself.

Click on each photo below to shop the item!

What type of theme/colors are you going for this year??

I'm starting a new series called "Small Shop Feature", in which I'll be sharing some of my FAVORITE small shops. If you have your own shop, feel free to reach out! I'd love to try out your products and feature them here if they are a good fit!

To kick off this series, I want to start with a shop that I am absolutely in LOVE with: Little Pine Artistry

As you can tell from the pictures above, I have been meaning to post a feature on this shop for a LOOOOOOONGGG time... I mean...see James' crib?? haha He's been in a toddler bed for a couple of months now. Regardless, my love for this shop has not wavered one bit.

Megan Nielsen is the artist behind Little Pine Artistry, and to say she is talented would be an enormous understatement. There is just something about her art that I adore so so very much. She does watercolors of nature and whimsical animals. They are BEAUTIFUL pieces...PERFECT for a nursery or play room or child's bedroom. James loves his custom bear piece that Megan created especially for his room! He points at it and smiles so big whenever he sees it!

This isn't a sponsored post or anything. I just genuinely want to bring awareness to this incredibly talented artist. I think you guys would really love her work, so be sure to check out her shop by clicking HERE.

I'm definitely going to be ordering another piece from her for when baby boy number two arrives!

What are some of your favorite small shops? Please share in the comments so that I can check them out!

Favorite Holiday Decor Picks

Screen Shot 2017-11-24 at 8.07.32 PM.png

Now that Thanksgiving is over, you know what that means: CHRISTMAS TIME! I'm going to start decorating tomorrow, and I am beyond excited to get the house all decked out! We are hopefully getting our tree tomorrow as well, weather permitting. We always cut down our own tree in the mountains each year (except for that one year that we snagged a tree from a stand in Stockton, but that's a story for another time. haha).

Anyways, I thought I'd round up some of my favorite holiday holiday decor that I've found while browsing the web, and share it with you guys! There are some really cute pieces out this year, and I'm definitely looking to upgrade my decoration game so I will be picking up some of these items as well.

You can click on each picture below to shop the piece or just get more information about it. Each picture is a link.

Three Secrets To Having A Tidy Home

We all know that person...you know? The one who's house is always spotless and perfectly tidy and put together. I used to not understand this. I assumed some people were just really into cleaning and decorating, like it was an unachievable skill. You either had it or you didn't. I, I thought, did not have it. I would find myself suddenly surrounded by a mess so large and overwhelming that my stress level would finally hit it's max. I would end up binge cleaning for a good few hours, or even designating a weekend to cleaning. It felt like things were always out of place and like there was no where to put them.

Keeping the house clean was hard! Or so I thought...

Then, something magical happened. I started to put two and two together... I began to see a trend in the habits of people who always have clean, tidy, put together spaces.

First of all, I noticed that they clean as they go.

I realized that if I cleaned as I went along, a huge mess never materialized and therefore I didn't reach that insane level of stress that comes along with things being out of place and out of control.

If I cooked a meal and cleaned up after myself as I went, the kitchen wouldn't be strewn with used utensils and cookware, and there wouldn't be food splattered everywhere that needed to be wiped up. If I did the dishes right after dinner, they wouldn't sit in the sink, building up into an intimidating pile.

If I make my bed every morning, the bedroom looks pretty and tidy. If I fold the blanket nicely over the back of the couch after I use it, it looks nice and put together rather than messy and out of place.

Next, I found that they have a place for every single thing.

Every single thing, no matter how small, has a place. This makes it easier to put things away, as it is very straight forward where each item belongs. Designating a particular place for each item in your home makes for a more intentional design and layout, and doesn't leave room for clutter.

Thirdly, they have less.

When I look at homes and spaces that look very put together and tidy and beautiful, they usually all have the same thing in common: they aren't filled with unnecessary things. In fact, people who have tidy homes tend to have less stuff. The things that they do have are functional, beautiful, and serve a purpose. By having less, they are able to keep their counters, shelves, and other spaces looking clean, sleek, and intentional. It's a minimalist type of thing.

Since I've started implementing these three techniques, my house has been so clean and looks much more put together! I've gotten rid of a lot of unnecessary things that don't serve a purpose or bring me joy or go with the over all look or feel of my house. The things that I've kept now all serve a purpose and have their own designated place. And now I am a stickler for cleaning as I go. I hate leaving messes or leaving things out of place. It's SO much easier to just clean up along the way rather than having to deal with a huge gross mess that has built up over the course of a day or two.

What are your tips for keeping your home tidy and looking put together? Please share!
